‎GOVERNOR SHERIFF OBOREVWORIE MUST PROTECT DELTA DEMOCRACY AND STOP BEING RUBBER STAMP GOVERNORS
By Concerned Delta group
‎Senator Ifeanyi Okowa wants to return to the Senate after serving 8 years as Governor and 4 years as Senator. Before then, he also served 4 years as Secretary to the State Government, 8 years as Commissioner, Chairman of a Local Government, and Secretary to the Local Government. Many Deltans are now asking how long one individual and his family should continue to dominate the political structure and opportunities of the state while many qualified people remain sidelined.
‎‎His brother, Tony Okowa, is the Director of Sports in the state. His daughter is in the House of Assembly, while his in-law, Emmanuel Osazuwa, is in the House of Representatives. Another brother serves as Commissioner, and his in-law is in charge of the Delta State Airport.
‎This level of concentration of power within one family raises serious concerns about favoritism, political monopoly, and abuse of influence. Democracy should encourage equal opportunities, fairness, and inclusiveness, not a system where public offices are treated like family inheritance.
‎‎Delta State is blessed with many intelligent, experienced, and hardworking people across all local governments who also deserve the chance to serve and contribute. Leadership is about empowering the people, building future leaders, and creating room for fresh ideas and new voices, especially for the younger generation.
‎‎Governor Sheriff Oborevwori should stand firm in protecting Delta democracy and ensure that the state does not become the personal property of any individual or political family. No one person should control the political structure, opportunities, and future of the state as if Delta belongs to them alone. The interest of the people must come first above personal ambition and family dominance.
‎‎The people want a system built on competence, transparency, accountability, and fairness — not continuous recycling of power among the same individuals and family circle. Public office should be about service to the people, not personal or family dominance.
‎Delta belongs to all of us, and every qualified citizen deserves an equal chance to lead and make a difference.
