The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), on Wednesday declared the Labour Party Governorship candidate, Dr Alex Otti, as the Governor-elect of Abia State. It is the first State the party is winning.
Stalled since Monday, the collation of the results resumed on Wednesday, with the announcement of the result of Obingwa Local Government Area (LGA).
The INEC Returning Officer for the Governorship election in Abia State, Prof. Nnena Oti, announced that the Labour Party candidate, Dr. Alex Otti polled a total of 175,467 votes to beat his closest rival, Mr. Okey Ahiwe of the PDP who recorded 88,529 votes and was followed by Ikechi Emenike of the APC who polled 24,091 votes.
As of 7.30 p.m., the stage was set for the announcement of the result of Enugu State, which was stalled since Monday on account of controversy surrounding Nkanu East LGA.
