Senator whose committee nailed Babachir wants Itse Sagay’s committee disbanded

The Senator who headed the Senate Committee that nailed Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Babachir David Lawal, over the management of federal funds to rebuild the North East, Shehu Sani, is asking for a comprehensive sacrifice that should send Professor Itse Sagay home, away from his job as an adviser on anti-corruption.
He called for the disbandment of Presidential Advisory Council on Corruption (PACAC), describing it as incompetent, and daring Sagay to criticise President Muhammadu Buhari for suspending Lawal the way he criticised him and the Senate when they asked Lawal to be dealt with for alleged corruption.
Sani is the Chairman of the Senate Ad hoc Committee on Mounting Humanitarian Crisis in the North East, which on Dec. 14, 2016, called for the resignation and prosecution of Lawal, following alleged complicity in the diversion of North east humanitarian funds.
Yesterday, Sani was particularly angry that government officials and Non-governmental Organisations were feasting on the suffering and the hardships of millions of victims of the insurgency in the north east.
The victims, including widows and orphans, he added, had become cash cows for unscrupulous persons.
In an interview with journalists in Abuja, the Senator said: “President Muhammadu Buhari should as a matter of urgency dissolve his Presidential Advisory Council on Corruption. It is a moribund and irrelevant assemblage.
“A Presidential Advisory Committee headed by a man who defended the SGF is without honour.
“Professor Sagay attacked me for my report on PINE, now that the President has taken steps in the direction of the committee report; I hope the Prof will muster the courage to also attack the President.
“The advisory committee was looking for corruption in Sokoto while it’s there in the shokoto (Yoruba word for trousers).
“It is sad that most of the mercenary forces hired to rubbish the integrity of the Senate committee and defend those indicted have suddenly lost their voice.”
