From Ron Jacob, Jos.
A youth group,  Friends of the Indigent, comprising unemployed members, has donated food items, clothing and toiletries to an Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) camp in Church Of Christ In Nation (COCIN), Heipang, Barkin Ladi Local Government Area (LGA).
The members are friends resident in Jos and Bauchi State who tasked themselves to make the contributions after the recent Plateau killings where many lives were lost.
Speaking while making the presentation, one of the friends, Miss Charity Kalat, a Post graduate student of Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University (ATBU) said that they were touched by the plight of women and children in the camps.
“We are seven who made the contributions and some of us are even applicants but we know that these IDPs need our assistance the most.
“We pray such misfortune would not happen again and God comfort those who lost their loved ones.
“We urged the government and all critical stakeholders to make concerted efforts for sustainable peace in the Plateau , ” she said.
In his remarks, Mr Iliya Makau, the leader of the Camp thanked the friends for their kind gesture saying it was noble that despite their little resources they were still generous to them.
He said they were still in need of more mattresses, blankets and food as they were more than 2,000 residents there and have only 200 mattresses.
Miss Grace Yitnoe, one of the friends said a special prayer will hold for the IDPs for their protection, provisions and healing to their wounded souls .
The seven friends donated rice, toiletries, Semovita and clothing.
The State Security Apparatus, Operation Rainbow, also made donations to the camp of 60 blankets and 100 buckets.
