Must read

From Adedeji Joseph, Ilorin.
Only a faction of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kwara State congratulated the newly elected National Chairman of the party, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole yesterday in Ilorin, the state capital.
Chairman of the faction, Hon. Bashir Omolaja, in a statement signed by the faction’s Publicity Secretary, Kayode Oyin-Zubair described Oshiomole’s  election as “a call to cleanse and reposition the party to answer its name as a true progressive party.
Omolaja expressed satisfaction with the emergence of Comrade Oshiomhole as the party national chairman with a high hope that he (Oshiomhole) would fix the apparent problems within the party.

It was a bit calm in the camp of the other faction believed to be led the Senate President, Dr. Bukola Saraki, at the press time Monday.

However, Speaker, State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Ali Ahmad set a message congratulating only their own; Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi  who was re-elected as the National Publicity Secretary.

Omolaja, the factional chairman had said; “On behalf of our teeming members in Kwara State, we congratulate our newly elected national chairman and the party for a successful national convention that ended last weekend.

“The new chairman who understands the problem rocking the party over time, while making his acceptance speech displayed sufficient knowledge of our problem and spoke to it.

“This is what we have been fighting to achieve since the struggle to have a party that can be owned by everyone and credible enough to midwife a better government that should be started in our dear state, Kwara.

“We have come this far because of the encouraging support we enjoyed from well meaning Kwarans home and abroad. We never envisaged a smooth ride, anyways, we have always maintained that the road will be rough but the struggle is worth given everything.

“We have not lost anything, because our traducers have achieved nothing new. We fought and exposed impunity, high handedness and injustice from the ward congress to the national convention.

“We equally displayed maturity in handling every stage of the struggle -no physical combat and all sorts of misbehaviour. We are peaceful, strategic and above all patriotic.

Cogratulating Abdullahi, the Speaker described his re-emergence as a  reward for his resilience and commitment to positive projection of the image of the party.
Rt. Hon. Ahmad expressed delight  at the wide margin in the number of votes scored by Mallam Abdullahi against his opponents which he said was “a clear manifestation of his excellent performance, wide acceptability and winning capacity of the political dynasty under the leadership of the Senate President, Dr. Bukola Saraki”.
The Speaker enjoined him to see his resounding victory at the national convention  as an impetus for improved performance in the task of packaging the party ahead of next year’s general elections.
His words; “the party cannot afford to go to the general elections next year with a divided house; hence, the new NWC must work assiduously in addressing the grievances of the aggrieved members, for better performance at the poll”
