Breaking…Abuja VIO headquarters “collapses”

Must read

The Vehicle Inspection Office (VIO) staff sit on a high moral pedestal, seeking to ensure that vehicles and their drivers are in order on the roads, but yesterday in Abuja, one of the five-storey buildings under construction in their headquarters complex  collapsed, in what an expert described as “due diligence not adhered to.”
Another expert in the Federal Capital Territory Administration, who cannot be named, because he is not authorised to speak, said it was not a building collapse but a “form-work failure.”
Many are blaming structural defects but embarrassed staff looked on from their offices as pillars hung precariously.
It was gathered that one injured construction worker on site was rushed to the hospital.
A source said that the scaffold holding the concrete on the first floor was not reinforced before fresh concrete was poured on the two years old slab.
“That floor caved in while we were at work in our various offices this morning, but no staff of the VIO was injured in the unfortunate incident,” he added.
