Carnival as Dogara, Senators, 162 Reps flag-off federal roads in Bauchi

It was perhaps the largest, single gathering of federal lawmakers in any State of the federation as Senators and 162 members of the House of Representatives joined Speaker Yakubu Dogara to flag off the construction of three major roads that will cut across the Bauchi State.
The flagging off ceremony took place at Dass local government area with officials of the Ministry of Power, Works and Housing, which Minister, Babatunde Fashola, was represented by Mr Mohammed Rufai.
There were also thousands of the Speaker’s constituents and well wishers.
During the event, Dogara gave assurance that the road project will be completed within the next two years.
He also added that in collaboration with governments of neigbouring states, other road projects will be constructed to ease movement from Bauchi State to their respective states.
He said, “As we flag off this road project, I want to tell you that this is not the only road that will be done. This is one of them  and by the grace of God, we will complete this road in the next 2 years.
“As we flag off this road, we are flagging off the one from Burga in Bauchi to Plateau state.  We are flagging another one that will take off from Pankshi into Tarshi and move from Gambar to Sara and then to Mangu in Plateau so that it can connect with Lere road.
“We are discussing with the government of Plateau State. Former Governor Adamu Muazu builtthe road from Zuangi to Maijuju and completed the Maijuju bridge, which is the boundary between Bauchi and Plateau State but unfortunately, the government  of Plateau hasn’t done its own part of the bargain. So, we are impressing it on the governor of Plateau State to complete this road. We will work with him to ensure that this is done.
“I tell you, these are some of the roads. There are even more in collaboration with members from Gombe State.”
“We are not stopping here, we also have the contractor who is charged with the responsibility of doing the road from Bauchi to Gombe in our midst. The road has been awarded.
