Must read

The Police and the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) have been offering explanations on why Arabic Language got included on the list of subjects on the Police recruitment exercise.
JAMB this Friday conducted a Computer Based Test (CBT) for the exercise in designated centres across the Country.
Not long after the test, the social media went agog with complaints that Arabic Language was included on the test platform.
One of the viral posts reads: “Arabic Language as a compulsory paper in the recent police recruitment CBT exams.
“We just confirmed that the CBT conducted today for police recruitment had the following subjects
“These are the subjects set by JAMB for police recruitment
1.. LANGUAGE -60 QUESTIONS.
2.ARABIC -40 QUESTIONS.
3.FINE ART-40 QUESTIONS.
4.AGRICULTURAL SCIENCE-40 QUESTIONS.
TOTAL SUBJECTS (4) TOTAL QUESTIONS (180)
“This is a very disturbing development and we must resist every attempt to foist a religion or foreign culture on a secular state as ours.”
But a top Police source denied that Arabic Language was part of the test adding that it was the work of mischief makers.
He said no official complaint had been received by the Police.
JAMB spokesman, Dr. Fabian Benjamin, explained to Everyday.ng that other subjects included were dummies as candidates were required to answer only English Language questions.
His words: “Our software Is designed for 4 subjects in all our examinations, for third-party examination like the police, English is the only basis for assessment and candidates were so instructed. If you look at the dummy questions that were randomly picked you would have seen that they were all “A” subjects, Arts Agriculture, Arabic with English as the subject of assessment. However candidates were adequately instructed to answer ONLY English. Candidates were expected to answer ONLY English and the others dummy to enable the software and not for assessment.
“The arrangement of the dummy subjects are in alphabetical order as contained in our 23 questions for which candidates are examined in our examination.”
