Maiduguri attacked, Army claims upper hand

“Alhamdulillahi for being alive. The attack was defeated,” states an eyewitness.
A Boko Haram (BH) attempt Thursday night to storm Maiduguri metropolis was repelled gallant soldiers of the Nigerian Army.
“They tried to storm into Yerwa through the newly constructed Customs House where internally displaced persons (IDPs) from Ajiri & Anadua in MAFA Local Government Areas were camped,” he said.
A military source source indicates that all the dreaded BH boys were killed by gallant soldiers including many suicide bombers who also tried to infiltrate into Yerwa.
However, many lost their lives as others also got serious injuries.
“We are right now beside our residential gates at 505 [Housing Units here in Maiduguri]; security agencies and ambulances could be seen conveying those affected from Muna-customs camp to hospital,” he added.
“May the souls of those who died rest in perfect peace & May Allah grant quick recovery to those injured,” the source prayed.
But the official Army version of the story appears slightly different. According to the Army, “Insurgents attempt to over run Maiduguri
At about 2327 hours (11:27p.m.) some elements of Boko haram attacked Custom Military check point with the intent of proving attack trying to push in to Maiduguri.
“While the soldiers were trying to repel the attack, one of the VBIED (vehicle-borne improvised explosive device) rushed in to the military camp and detonated and then two PBIED (person-borne improvised explosive devise) ran in to the Muna garage and detonated two IED’s which resulted to burning about 13 vehicles loaded with goods waiting to be escorted to Gamboru-Dikwa road.
“However, no casualties from neither the civilians or military was recorded. This is for your information.”
