FEC postponed as Ministers caught out by Eid el Kabir; Buhari meets Issoufou

The routine meeting of the Federal Executive Council (FEC) of Nigeria will not hold this Wednesday because Ministers were overwhelmed by the Eid el Kabir celebrations they did not prepare relevant documents for the meeting, the Federal Government has said.
In a statement from Kano, the Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, said: “This week’s Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting will not hold due to inadequate time to prepare the documents for the meeting…”
The Minister said the two-day public holidays declared for the Eid-el-Kabir celebrations “left little or no time to prepare for the weekly meeting.”
However, many civil servants resumed to their desks in Abuja, as others appeared to have been overwhelmed by the long holidays and were nowhere near their offices
Traffic remained light on major streets, but the banks and other commercial centers were opened for business attending to customers.
The Federal Government declared last week Friday and yesterday as public holidays, but many travelled or kept away from their offices from last week Wednesday.
Meanwhile President Muhammadu Buhari, who has been away to his hometown of Daura, Katsina State, played host to his Nigerien counterpart, President Muhammadou Issoufou., in his country home.
Issoufou was visiting to solidarise with his colleague who was away on treatment in London.
The Nigerien leader visited with his son, while the Buhari’s own son, Yusuf, was also available as the two leaders met.
