I had an interesting conversation with a young man this week. He wanted to know what he should be pursuing in life. I asked him what he desired most in life. His answer was bold and blunt: “MONEY, lots of it” He had a Bible quote for justification, “… Money answers everything” (Ecclesiastes 10:19, NIV)
He could as well have been speaking for many in our world and time who believe that the answer to all life challenges is money. Yes, we all do need money but how much of it is enough? And does money really answer all life questions? Ask those you think have “lots of money”, it comes with lots of other challenges.
“The love of money is the root of all evil, those who crave to get rich quick fall into a trap and into many harmful desires” (1Timothy 6:9-10)
MONEY is more than a currency or coin; there is a spirit behind it called mammon that seeks to draw us away from loving and trusting God. That is the real danger in money.
