Sovereign Lord,
How long will You let terrorists go unpunished?
How long until You avenge the deaths of the innocentand judge the brutality of the guilty?
When will Your justice roll out and crush the wicked?
When will Your righteousness vindicate the upright?
The powerless are targeted without cause
by the murderous and violent.
Come quickly to save the innocent!
Protect them from the vicious who pursue relentlessly,terrorizing for conviction or livelihood or sport.
Still the stirring, churning fear of the persecuted
as they live, work, and worship.
Comfort them as they grieve those lost.
Provide for their every need.
Cultivate stunning forgiveness where bitterness and rage would naturally fester.
And give them courage to pursue what is truly good
when the results might be terribly bad.
Grow the hope of the hunted so that their overflowing joy astonishes those who seek to stop it.
God Who Turns Enemies to Beloved, draw terrorists to Yourself.
In Your great mercy, remove the veil darkening their eyes, the blindfold that feeds the lust of the bloodthirsty, making evil works look like good deeds. Shine the cleansing light of Christ into deep, consuming darkness.
May murderers become meek and mournful,
loathing their wickedness and bending in submission to the gentle and lowly Saviour.
And if You will not transform the wicked, Sovereign Lord, overturn them.
If they will not drop their weapons, blot them out to establish Your justice.
Destroy the plots of destroyers and gobble up the plans of predators so they will never again prey on the vulnerable.
Vengeance is Yours, O Judge of the Earth, and You will certainly not leave the guilty unpunished.
