Who killed former Plateau Commissioner, APC spokesman after 20 death threaths?

Must read

It is no longer news that after not less than 20 death threats, the Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and former Commissioner for Information in Plateau State, 66 years old Mr. Sylvanus Namang, has been shot dead.

Slain Namang

Many are now asking if he was targeted and gunned and who did it.

The National Secretary of the APC, Festus Fuanter, disclosed that Namang got over 20 death threats, leading many in the state to think that there was more to his death than is being reported.

Namang died in Pankshin, though he hailed from the embattled Mangu Local Government Area of the state, like state governor, Barrister Caleb Mutfwang.

Mangu has been a killing field since Mutfwang took over the reins of power in the state.

Fulani militias have been roundly fingered for the killings, though there have been whispers of unsubstantiated insider collaborations.

The Police in Plateau State confirmed the killing of Namang, by gunmen.

Alfred Alabo, the Police spokesman there, explained that the Police at about 8:00pm on Saturday, February 17, 2024 received information that seven gunmen suspected to be kidnappers, invaded a relaxation centre located along Pankshin – Jos road and kidnapped the owner and shot Namang dead.

Said Alabo in a statement: “On receipt of the information, the Commissioner of Police in the state, Hassan Yabanet, immediately directed the Area Commander and the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) in Pankshin, to arrest the suspects and rescue the victim.

“Our men engaged the hoodlums in a gun battle and were able to foil the kidnap attempt. The suspects escaped with gunshot wounds while the victim was rescued and rushed to the General Hospital, Pankshin for treatment as the bandits had injured him. However, the victim was later confirmed dead at the hospital.”
