15 Senators defect to PDP as Saraki beats police siege

Must read

The hide and seek game in Abuja took a laughable dimension as Senate President, Dr. Bukola Saraki, has beat the police siege in his residence and emerged at the National Assembly.
In fact, he is presiding at this time and dropped a bombshell that appears to have altered Nigeria’s political equation. He read a letter signed by 15 Senators who have defected from the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) to the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
The list include Senators Shaaba Lafiagi (Kwara), Barnabas Gemade (Benue), Olanrewaju Tejuosho (Ogun), Dino Melaye (Kogi(, Rafiu Ibrahim (Kwara), Shitu Ubali (Jigawa), Isah Misau (Bauchi), Suleiman Hunkuyi (Kaduna), Monsurat Sunmonu (Oyo), Ibrahim Danbaba (Sokoto), Abdulazeez Nyako (Adamawa), Usman Nafada (Gombe), Suleiman Nazif (Bauchi), Soji Akanbi (OYO), and Rabiu Kwankwaso (Kano).
Senator Soji Akanbi was to later say he did not defect from the APC, while Monsurat Sunmonu said she left for the African Democratic Congress (ADC) and not PDP. Olanrewaju Tejuosho also said he had not chosen a party to move to.
There are now 53 APC Senators, 51 PDP Senators; and two All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) Senators. Senator Shehu Sani has left APC, but has not said where he is now; while two seats are vacant on account of deaths.
It was being speculated Tuesday more Senators will defect soon to the PDP, while a mass defection is envisaged in the House of Representatives.
Details soon…
