Change your tactics; form or join parties, PDC tells Biafra agitators

Must read

The National Chairman of People for Democratic Change, Alhaji Mudi Waziri has called on all Biafran agitators including the Indigenous People of Biafra, the Movement for the Actualization of the Sovereign State of Biafra(MASSOB), Movement of Biafrans in Nigeria(MOBIN)and others, to form a political party or join existing ones to advance their cause better.
Waziri who spoke at the weekend in Awka while handing over the party’s flag to her governorship candidate in the coming November 18 poll in the state, Mr Peter Chibike, noted that while agitations on contentious issues in the polity were normal as key ingredients of participatory democracy, such agitations must be peaceful, legal and constitutionally carried out within the ambits of the law.
He condemned the call by IPOB for the boycott of the Anambra poll, describing such move as retrogressive.
The party boss who was represented by the state chairman of the party, Mr Isaac Onuka, said Biafra agitators should channel their grievances through established and recognized institutions and not through street protests and sultry verbal antagonisms.
According to him, “…the National Assembly, and several lawful avenues are available to citizens, groups and sundry interests to make change, seek redress and advance legitimate causes.
“Therefore, we call on agitators to either join a political party which shares their ideology or form new parties to push their cause. Street protests cannot give anybody Biafra.
While handing over the flag to Mr Chibike, the national chairman urged him to fly the party’s ticket in the election with dignity, “…Don’t attack anybody in your campaign speeches; avoid campaign of calumny. Let your campaign be issue- based”. He said that its only God makes leaders, Waziri said the PDC would not challenge the outcome of the November 18 election in the state.
Mr Chibike in his remarks lamented that Anambra State had not got a governor who had passion, foresight and strength to take the state to the next level. He therefore vouched that if voted to power his priority would be to use his international connections to transform the environment of the state to standard best practices.
” I will eradicate malaria, typhoid and ulcer. All these are caused by filthy environment”, the PDC flag bearer stated.
