Osun scores 100% in Q3 fiscal transparency report, Adeleke applauds performance

Osun State has recorded a major milestone in public finance management after scoring 100 percent in the 2025 Third Quarter Fiscal Transparency Report released by BudgIT Nigeria.

The report placed Osun among only 11 states nationwide that achieved a perfect score in the latest Fiscal Transparency League Table, which assesses states on the availability, timeliness, and completeness of key public finance documents, functionality of e-procurement portals, and accessibility of fiscal data.

Reacting to the development, Governor Ademola Adeleke, according to a statement by his spokesperson, Mr. Olawale Rasheed, described the rating as a validation of his administration’s commitment to transparency, accountability, and due process in governance. He noted that the achievement represents Osun State’s highest fiscal transparency performance in over a decade.

The governor said the result reaffirmed that the state’s budgetary and procurement processes meet national and global standards, despite criticism from opposition quarters. He added that the recognition was a “New Year gift” to the people of Osun and further proof that the state has been prudently managed in the last three years.

Governor Adeleke also highlighted other performance indicators credited to his administration, including Osun’s ranking as first in primary healthcare access in the South-West, improvement from 33rd to 7th position in national examination ratings, a reduction of the state’s debt profile by over 40 percent, and a significant reduction in infrastructure deficit, based on assessments by federal agencies.

According to him, the perfect score underscores Osun State’s commitment to open governance, strengthened public financial management systems, and transparency in budgeting and procurement.

Speaking on the report, the Commissioner for Budget and Economic Planning, Prof. Moruf Adeleke, said the rating reflects strict adherence to due process, timely budget implementation reporting, openness in procurement, and public access to fiscal data through the state’s official platforms.

He attributed the achievement to strong political will and support from the governor, which, he said, enabled the ministry to operate in line with national and international best practices.

The BudgIT Fiscal Transparency Report is a widely referenced independent assessment that tracks how Nigerian states disclose and manage public finance information, with the aim of promoting accountability and citizen trust in governance.
