The Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) has announced a 100% increase in the cost of Nigerian Standard Passports, effective September 1, 2025.
In a statement signed by the Service Public Relations Officer, ACI AS Akinlabi, the NIS said the adjustment is aimed at preserving the quality and integrity of the Nigerian passport.
Under the new pricing structure, applications made within Nigeria will now cost:
₦100,000 for a 32-page passport with five-year validity
₦200,000 for a 64-page passport with 10-year validity
However, passport application fees for Nigerians in the Diaspora remain unchanged at:
$150 for a 32-page passport with five-year validity
$230 for a 64-page passport with 10-year validity
The statement reads in part:
“In a bid to uphold the quality and integrity of the Nigerian Passport, the Nigeria Immigration Service hereby announces an upward review of Nigerian Standard Passport fees, effective September 1, 2025.
The revised rates apply only to passport applications submitted within Nigeria.
Meanwhile, fees for passport applications made abroad by Nigerians in the Diaspora remain unchanged.
The Service remains committed to delivering quality service while ensuring passport accessibility for all Nigerians.”
