The Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Senator George Akume, has appointed veteran journalist Yomi Odunuga as his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity.
According to a statement released on Thursday, the appointment takes immediate effect.
Before his latest appointment, Odunuga served as Deputy Editor at The Nation newspaper. He began his journalism career over 27 years ago with The Punch as a Proof Reader and later rose through the ranks to become the State House Correspondent, Abuja Bureau Chief, and Group Political Editor.
Odunuga also wrote the widely read columns Life in Abuja and Inside Aso Rock for The Punch. His deep political insight and critical analyses earned him widespread recognition and professional advancement.
In 2006, he joined The Nation as Assistant Editor and Abuja Bureau Chief, where he revived his popular column under the title Knucklehead, continuing his incisive commentary on national affairs.
In 2019, he was appointed Special Adviser on Media and Publicity to the Deputy President of the 9th Senate, Senator Ovie Omo-Agege, a role he held until 2023. Upon completing his service at the National Assembly, he returned to The Nation as Deputy Editor, focusing on high-profile interviews and political analysis.
Born on June 2, 1966, Odunuga is also known as a poet, lyricist, and columnist.
