The Anambra state lawmaker representing Aguata II Constituency, Hon Okechukwu Okoye, who was abducted on May 15,2022 by unknown persons has been found beheaded.

The lawmakers severed head was found mounted on a stick at Nnobi in Idemili South local government area of the state.

Information from road users also disclosed that a headless male’s body was seen dumped at Ideani junction along the Nkpor-Nnobi Road. That’s a few kilometers from Nnobi, where his head was discovered.

The lawmaker was reported kidnapped last week, alongside his aide, Mr Cyril Chiegboka, while driving in Okoye’s Toyota Sienna car.

The police later recovered the car and assured of securing the release of the lawmaker and his assistant alive.

The Anambra state’s Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Ikenga Tochukwu, confirmed the report of the killing of the lawmaker. He said: “His head was found along Nnobi road today (Saturday). There is no suspect in custody yet.”

In a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Christian Aburime, Soludo offered his deepest condolences and angst on the lawmaker’s death, but also placed a N10 million bounty on the head of the killers.

He promised same for anyone with useful information that would lead to the apprehension of the perpetrators of the dastardly act.

He condoled with his kinsmen of Isuofia, noting that it is probably the same criminal gang that attacked him and killed three policemen at Isuofia two years ago that are once again on the prowl adding that they can never cow down Isuofia and Anambra state.

Governor Soludo, still in shock over the barbaric acts, vowed that the perpetrators as well as all criminals operating in Anambra must be decisively brought to book.

Soludo assured that Anambra will be a hell for such criminals.

He reassured the people of Anambra of his government’s resolve and renewed determination with the security agencies to go all out against the criminals and ensure they are brought to justice.
