Keys to a true prophecy

1️⃣ THE SPIRIT TEST
One key test of genuine prophets and prophecies is that they align with the SPIRIT and WORD of God. To the extent they do not, they fail.

” For no prophetic message ever came just from the human will, but people were under the control of the Holy Spirit as they spoke the message that came from God” – 2Peter 1:21, GNT

2️⃣ THE JESUS TEST
The second key test is the place of Jesus in the prophet and prophecy. What is the RELATIONSHIP of the prophet with the Lord Jesus? To what extent does the prophecy align with the CHARACTER and TEACHING of Christ?

“In the past God spoke to our ancestors at many different times and in many different ways through the prophets. In these last days he has spoken to us through his Son…” (Hebrews 1:1‭-‬2 GW)

To be able to test and judge prophets and prophecies correctly therefore, we need to personally know Jesus, His word and be filled with the Spirit of God.
