Kidnapped Methodist Prelate, two others freed

Details are not yet in, but the kidnapped Prelate of the Methodist Church and two others kidnapped with him have been freed by their abductor, Everyday.ng has learnt.

A source in the Christian Association of Nigeria CAN) confirmed their freedomMonday night.

First indication of their release came vide a post on social media where a member of the church wrote: “Praise the Lord . . Hallelujah. His Eminence Dr. Sam Chuckuemeka Uche, Prelate, Methodist Church Nigeria, and those kidnapped with him have been released. Thanks for your prayers and please join us in praising God Almighty, our faithful and ever compassionate Creator, for answered prayers . And may He put an end to banditry, kidnapping and terrorism in our fatherland.”

Recall that the Prelate of the Methodist Church Nigeria, His Eminence, Samuel Kanu Uche, was on Sunday, kidnapped along Enugu-Port Harcourt Expressway, in Umunneochi Local Government Area of Abia.

He was kidnapped alongside Rt. Rev. Dennis Mark, the Methodist Bishop of Owerri and the Prelate’s Chaplain, by yet to identified gunmen.

Sources said that the clergymen were kiddnapped in the afternoon while they were on their way from a programme in the council area.The Police Public Relation Officer in Abia, SP Geoffrey Ogbonna, confirmed the incident to our correspondent.

“It’s quite unfortunate. Efforts are on top gear toward his rescue as well as other priests with him.

“We solicit credible information from the public toward their rescue, please,” he said.
