Must read

Curiously, the six men and a woman of South-East extraction with Presidential aspirations did not make a forceful statement insisting that the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) must zone Nigeria’s most-coveted seat to the Igbo speaking part of the country.

They, however, opted to support any of them: Barr Mrs Uju Ken Ohanenye, Rochas Okorocha, Ken Nnamani, Emeka Nwajiuba, Ogbonnaya Onu, Governor Dave Umahi, and Chief Molukwu that wins the APC ticket to run as President.

In a communique after a meeting at the Abuja home of Okorocha, the aspirants resolved as follows:

“That the President of the federal republic of Nigeria and the All Progressive Congress and Its National Working Committee as well the teaming members of the party are commended by the entire people of the southeast on their avowed commitment to the unity of Nigeria and the inclusion of all parts of Nigeria In the governance architecture of the country.

“That we commend all Nigerians who are committed to the Nigerian project by the whole hearted support of the aspiration of the south east to produce the next Nigerian president in 2023.

“That in furtherance of these commitment all aspirants here commit to align with any of the south east aspirants that is accepted by and chosen by other Nigerians to fly the APC flag.”

Only five of them were physically present at the meeting, while Umahi was said to have joined the closed-door meeting virtually from Abakaliki, the Ebonyi State capital
