One major faith-buster and hope-killer is a sense of abandonment by God, especially in the midst of our battles and trials. It can lead to faith paralysis or even spiritual death.
GIDEON fell victim to that: “If the LORD is with us, why has all this happened to us?” (Judges 6:13)
THE DISCIPLES got knocked by that: “Teacher, don’t You care that we are perishing?” (MK. 4:28)
MARTHA was grieved by such: “Lord, if only you had been here, my brother would not have died” (Jn. 11:21)
THE LORD JESUS himself, at the cross, cried: “My God, my God, why have you abandoned me?” (Mt. 27:46)
Our omnipresent God is ever there when we live to do His will. The Hebrew children found Him in the fire. The Disciples encountered Him in the storm. For He said, “I will never leave you nor forsake you”(Heb. 13:5)
Whenever God seems far, it is either we are blinded by our challenges or we have shifted from our divine positioning.
