Just a week after the office of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Isiala Ngwa Local Government Area of Abia State allegedly got burnt by hoodlums another incident has been recorded in Qua’an Pan local government area of Plateau State.
A.fire that broke out Saturday night burnt everything in the building including ballot boxes, generators, newly printed electronic and manual Voters Register, uncollected PVCs. In Abia State, permanent voters cards (PVCs) and election materials were destroyed.
Media reports quoted the INEC head of voters education and public enlightenment, Osaretin Imahiyereobo of having confirmed the inferno on the building adding thatthe management team from Jos is on the way to Qua’an Pan to assess the situation
The office security guard is being blamed for been drunk as the inferno consumed the office.
“A drunken security man was said to have caused the fire outbreak. The office is completely burnt with all its contents including ballot boxes, generator sets that have been serviced and filled with fuel, cubicles, newly printed electronic and manual voters register, uncollected permanent voter cards (PVCs), materials for the preparations of RAC and other materials yet to be identified,” he said
