Police liberate two, arrest human trafficking ‘madame’

The Anambra State police Command has arrested the female leader of a human trafficking/ kidnap syndicate at Awkuzu, following an intelligence report.
The command in a statement by the Police Public Relations Officer, Haruna Mohammed(SP), “….Detectives attached to the Oyi division arrested one Amaka Adiri ‘f’ of Number 24 Vbioke Street Benin City who specialized in luring and kidnapping young girls under false pretenses into prostituion in foreign countries.
“She was alleged to have threatened one Gold Ebube Nwogazi, aged 21years of Ugwunabo council of Abia State and seized her Bag at Awkuzu in Anambra State for refusing to follow her to Ghana, allegedly for the business of prostitution.
“Also, another female victim one Chidera Paul of Umuoba Village, Isiala Ngwa Abia State was liberated from the same suspect who was equally lured away for the same purpose.”
Police investigations so far, according to the PPRO, revealed that the victims were to pay Six hundred thousand Naira (#600,000.00) each to Madam Adiri within the next three months while in Ghana to regain their freedom and liberty.
The matter, the police stated, would be charged to court immediately the investigations were concluded soon.
Consequently police advised the public to be wary of such syndicates who go about deceiving innocent-minded girls under false pretense of securing greener pastures for them outside the country, oblivious of the fact that they were being trafficked and lured into sex slavery and apparent death.
