Kogi Police Officer Allegedly Shoots Female Colleague, Kills Himself
A tragic incident has claimed the lives of two police officers in Ajaokuta Local Government Area of Kogi State after a male officer allegedly shot his female colleague, with whom he was reportedly in a romantic relationship, before turning the gun on himself.
The Reporters gathered that the incident occurred on Friday, October 23, 2026, when the male officer, identified as Corporal Amos Yusuf, allegedly went to the quarters of his female colleague, Woman Corporal Grace Abraham, and shot her three times with an AK-47 rifle before taking his own life.
According to information available, the two officers had been dating for some time before a misunderstanding reportedly arose bordering (on) infidelity.
The disagreement was said to have escalated into a series of clashes between the two officers, prompting senior officers in their division to intervene and separate them in an attempt to prevent further confrontation.
However, the intervention reportedly failed to avert the tragedy, as Yusuf allegedly went to Abraham’s quarters while on duty at the station and opened fire on her before shooting himself.
The circumstances surrounding how the officer gained access to the rifle while on duty, as well as the events immediately preceding the shooting, remain unclear.
Sympathisers described the incident as particularly tragic in that both officers, from Kogi State, joined the Nigeria Police Force in the same year, received training at the same institution, passed out in the same year, served in the same location and received promotions around the same period.
Reacting to the sad event, the Police Public Relations Officer for the Police Command in Kogi state,ASP.Afusat Oiyza Salihu, confirmed the story in a text she sent to The Reporters in Lokoja on Sunday.
“We are aware, it’s under investigation please,” she added.
