The suspect behind the brutal killing of 24-year-old Aladi Offikwu Johnson remains at large, eight days after the tragic incident that took place in a hotel in Abuja.
Aladi, a native of Benue State, was found dead on Monday, June 16, in a hotel located on 3rd Avenue in Gwarinpa Estate, Abuja. Her death has since drawn public outrage and calls for justice.
In a statement released on Sunday by Mr. Mike Abu on behalf of the bereaved family, burial arrangements for the late Aladi have been made. A wake will be held at the family’s residence in Masaka, Karu Local Government Area of Nasarawa State.
Her remains will be transported from Abuja to her hometown, Olaidu in Edumoga Ehaje, Okpokwu Local Government Area of Benue State, on Monday, June 23. She will be laid to rest the same day at the family compound.
The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command confirmed the incident in a statement issued by spokesperson SP Josephine Adeh last Wednesday, June 18. According to the statement, Aladi was discovered in a hotel room with her hands tied behind her back. She was found unconscious by hotel staff during routine rounds, and was later confirmed dead by medical personnel.
FCT Commissioner of Police, Ajao Adewale, has ordered a full-scale investigation into the incident. Preliminary findings indicate that the victim, also known as Tessy, checked into the hotel on June 16 with an unidentified male companion. The man was later seen leaving the premises alone.
“The CP has directed a thorough and discreet investigation into the case,” said SP Adeh. “We urge the public to remain calm while the police carry out a comprehensive inquiry.”
The investigation is ongoing, and authorities continue efforts to identify and apprehend the suspect.
