Wife of former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, Titi, on Saturday celebrated her 75th birthday anniversary which had Atiku swooning on social media.

Apart Atiku Abubakar, those who were spotted in an exclusive photo obtained by Everyday.ng at the get-together to celebrate Mrs. Titi Atiku, on Saturday, were former First Lady, Mrs. Maryam Abacha.

Others were 92 years old Prof. Mrs. Lar Mrs Titi Atiku Abubakar, HRH Dr Adetayo Haastrup and Hon Justice Rakiya Haastrup.

On social media, Atiku offered a rare and deeply personal glimpse into his over five-decade-long marriage with his wife, Titi Abubakar, revealing that the union began in defiance of their parents’ wishes.

In a heartfelt tribute shared on social media on Saturday to mark Titi’s 75th birthday, Atiku celebrated the unwavering bond they have shared for more than 50 years, describing her as “a blessing beyond measure.”

“Titi and I got married against our parents’ wishes in the most daring way,” Atiku wrote.

“With no family members, with only two friends,” he added.

Despite the odds, the couple’s love endured, and Atiku noted that their marriage has grown stronger through the decades.

“Today, we have been married for more than 50 years,” he said. “Titi has been a blessing beyond measure to me and our family.”

Atiku also reflected on the affection and warmth that have characterised their relationship, adding a touch of humour about their personal dynamic:

“I don’t know how we started calling ourselves Mummy and Daddy,” he wrote, hinting at the intimacy and camaraderie that has defined their private life.

The elder statesman took the opportunity to express gratitude for Titi’s patience over the years, admitting that she had to bear with his imperfections: “I thank her for being patient with my shortcomings. Patience is a virtue you can never regret.”

He used the occasion to advise couples to remain committed and tolerant in their relationships: “I encourage spouses to continue to be patient with each other.”

Atiku concluded his tribute with a prayer for his wife’s continued joy and health: “I wish Titi many more years of bliss and blessings.”

The message has since drawn admiration online for its vulnerability, sincerity, and the former Vice President’s willingness to share a more human side of himself and his long-standing relationship.
