Plateau, Benue, and Kaduna States, among others, have been at war, but its governors have been living in denial for over 15 years. Chief in denial and delusion is the Nigeria Federal Government.
Unfortunately, it is an empty speech that does not convey anything that would stop the marauders. Nothing different is happening on the part of government to arrest this.
Victims assembling to talk religious tolerance is misplaced and a waste of time and resources. This is a clear attack of ethnic cleansing and land grab and forced political restructure.
The whole world knows this.
The attackers, at least the foot soldiers, are known and should be identified and named openly. Their mission to invade, decimate and occupy as seen in the past decade and half should be stated.
The governor has many options to fight back, first through active and dependable surveillance structures. Then also with armed engagement of whoever and whatever is legitimately needed for self-defense of citizens, then go after them by every means possible and neutralise them, anyway he can.
They and their sponsors are not open to any verbal conversations or negotiations. They are determined to carry this through until Plateau state collapses, and they take over the land physically and politically and exploit its wealth. This is quite clear after over 15 years.
Their sponsors can be fished out and neutralised. Nobody has the sole monopoly to kill.
The only language they understand and respect is a superior force. Period.
