Police foil alleged plot by medical staff to kill widowed sister-in-law, cousin, for spurning his marriage offer

Mustapha Tahiti was allegedly in love with his late elder brother’s wife. But she did not feel the same way about him, preferring instead his cousin. He was jealous and livid at the same time: he either had her or no one else would.

The 35 years old medical recorder allegedly put together a devious plan: take out his cousin and the widow. He prepared the poison, and with his knowledge as a medical staff, put it in a syringe to inject them.

Unfortunately, luck ran out against him as the Police got whiff of his plan. He was promptly arrested and has been singing like a canary in police  custody in Bauchi.

According to a statement by the Police spokesman in Bauchi, Superintendent of Police Ahmed Mohammed Wakil, the Intelligence Department arrested Tahiti, the medical recorder with the Maternity clinic Kofar Ran, Bauchi town on 6th March 2024, following credible intelligence at the disposal of the Department.

He adds: “On interrogation, the suspect confessed to the alleged crime and stated that he filled a syringe with an insecticide… he bought which would be forcefully administered to the victims. He also said he would cart away their valuables when he killed both his brother and his wife. The syringe filled with insecticide … has been recovered as an exhibit.

“Further discreet investigation uncovered that the suspect had grudges with the victim for marrying his late elder brother’s wife, whom he loved dearly and wanted to marry. Unfortunately, the widow does not want to marry him. The suspect in his further confession, said he warned the victim several times not to marry the widow but (was) ignored.”

Tahiti is to have his day in court.
