German charity shop broken into, toys stolen days before Christmas

A charity organization that provides food to the poor in the small western German town of Dinslaken was broken into on Tuesday night and several thousand euros worth of toys were stolen, according to a police report from Thursday.

The unknown perpetrators broke through the window of a hall used by the town’s Tafel food bank charity as a shop.Over the course of Tuesday evening and Wednesday morning, the offenders opened several boxes and stole toys which were meant for underprivileged children.

Perpetrators previously smashed a window of the building on Monday to steal food.

The non-profit organization reports it supports about 500,000 people in the state of North Rhine Westphalia with donations of food, clothing and toys.
