Funeral service for late Dr. Mailafia holds Nov. 5

A programme for the burial rites of former Deputy Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) and presidential candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in the 2019 Presidential Election, Dr. Obadiah Mailafia, has been released by a Burial Steering Committee (BSC), headed by former Information Minister, Prof. Jerry Gana.

Mailafia, passed on September 19, 2021 at the University of Abuja Teaching Hospital, Gwagwalada, after complications arising from Covid-19, according to the hospital’s management.

After a meeting of the BSC held on Wednesday in Abuja, a statement said, a funeral programme was approved. On Thursday November 4, 2021, there will be a service of songs/tributes at 5 p.m, at the National Christian Centre, Abuja.

The funeral service takes place the following day Friday November 5, at 11.00 a.m. at the same venue.

A statement by a member of the Burial Steering Committee, The Rev. Dr. Gideon Para Malam, reads in part: “Since the transition of Dr. Mailafia to eternal glory, religious, political and community leaders, among others, have paid personal visits to the Abuja home of The Mailafias. The Committee wishes to thank all those who have visited and sent condolence messages to the Family.

“We thank everyone for identifying with the bereaved family and look forward to the scheduled funeral activities in bidding farewell cum paying last respects to Dr. Obadiah Mailafia.”
