Buhari, Oshiomole urged to consider South East in 9th NASS Leadership

Must read

President Muhammadu Buhari; Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Comrade Adams Oshiomole have been urged to consider the South East geopolitical zone in the election of leaders for the 9th National Assembly.
This is to promote internal cohesion and create a sense of belonging in all Nigerians in the interest of the general development of the country.
Nigerian youths operating under the aegis of the National Youth Council of Nigeria, who made the appeal at a media briefing in Abuja, lamented that the South East had suffered more than enough abandonment by the All Progressives Congress led Federal government in the distribution of political offices.
Deputy National President of the NYCN, Comrade Innocent Nduanya, who addressed the media on the state of the nation specifically pleaded with Buhari and Oshiomole to consider the South East to produce the Speaker of the House of Representatives in the coming dispensation.
The youth activist, who insisted that the second term of Buhari’s government must be used to heal the wounds inflicted on the South East during the first term in the non inclusion of the zone in the National appointment, said that although the youths were not encouraging imposition of leaders on the National Assembly but, opined that APC machinery can be used for zoning that would be favorable to the South East.
To actualize their dream of ensuring equity distribution of political offices among the six geopolitical zones, Nduanya disclosed that the leadership of the Nigerian youths will soon pay a visit to President Muhammadu Buhari, APC National leader, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu and APC National Chairman, Comrade Aliu Adams Oshiomole to prevail on them on the need to be magnanimous in victory by carrying the entire country along in the distribution of political offices.
The Council made reference to one Chukwuemeka Nwajiuba who has just been elected into the House of Representatives on the platform of the APC from the South East, adding that, it would not be too much if the lawmaker is sponsored or nominated by the APC for the speakership of the House of Representatives.
The youths hinged their reference to the lawmaker to the fact that he was in the House of Representatives between 1999 and 2003 from where he became the National Secretary of the Buhari founded Congress for Progressive Change (CPC) and later served as Merger Secretary for all the political parties that transformed into the present APC, adding that with his background as a lawyer of several years standing, he is eminently qualified to lead the House of Representatives.
“We note that the Buhari led APC Federal government has been reelected for a second term to consolidate the works it started in 2015. We also recall that national political stability was strained over perceived loopsidedness in the zoning of strategic offices of government, contributing to limiting the wholesome effectiveness of otherwise good policies”, he said.
” With this in mind, the youth council believes that with the renewed mandate, President Buhari and APC have the opportunity to correct the pitfalls of the past four years and move the country in a united and inclusive manner in the equitable distribution of political offices including minesterial slots to assuage the feelings of the aggrieved Nigerians”, he added.
The Youth Council leader pleaded with Nigerians to continue to give their maximum support to the Buhari government in its quest to make life more meaningful for the entire citizenry in the country.
