Police warns schools in Abuja after nabbing kidnap suspects

Following the arrest of kidnap suspects who claimed children that was not theirs from a private school in Abuja, the schools have been warned by the Police not to release pupils to persons other than their biological parents or approved guardians.
In a statement by a spokesman in the Federal Capital Territory, DSP Anjuguri Manzah, the Police also explained why suspicious characters lurking around schools should be reported to the nearest Police formation.
It reads; “The FCT Police Command wishes to advise authorities of Public and Private schools in the Federal Capital Territory to be security conscious and always ensure pupils under their care are only released to their known biological parents or the approved guardians known to be responsible for the pick-up of the pupils from school.
“On 11th February, 2019 at about 0830hrs one Ummukhulthum Garba Isa ‘f’ 24 years conspired with one Mardiyyah Isa ‘f’ and Abubakar Aminu ‘m’ 20 years to deceitfully remove two children that are not hers from a School located at Karu Federal Housing.
“Upon receipt of the report, operatives from the FCT Police Command Anti Kidnapping Squad immediately swung into action leading to the rescue of the two victims and arrest of the principal suspect at her hideout at One Man Village, Mararaba, Nasarwawa State on 12th February, 2019 at about 1230hrs. Her cohorts who have been at large were arrested on Wednesday, 13th February, 2019 around Asokoro.
“To forestall a reoccurrence of such ugly incident, the Command is calling on school managements to be vigilant and report all suspicious persons loitering around their schools to the nearest police station or contact the Command Control room on: 08032003913, 08061581938, 07057337653 and 08028940883.
“Meanwhile, the children who belong to the same parent have been reunited with their parents. Investigation is in progress and the suspects will be charged to court upon it conclusion.”
