It is a WAZOBIA game as Tinubu scores over 1100 votes out of 1600 counted, to face Obi, Atik
The stage is almost set for a battle royale among Nigeria’s major ethnic nationalities as Bola Ahmed Tinubu, a Yoruba, is on cusp of history to pick the ticket of the All Progressives Congress (APC) from the number of votes counted so far.
He will face Peter Obi, an Igbo man of the Labour Party (LP) and former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, a Hausa/Fulani, of the main opposition party, the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).
Politically speaking, the remaining ethnic minorities will now determine which of the three men will coast home to victory next year.
And, of course, the often neglected, but most important God-factor, which Nigerians are noted for. A vast majority of Nigerians believe in God – either as Christians, Muslims, or African Traditional Religion (ATR) worshippers.
So far Tinubu has over 1,100 votes, while former Minister of Rivers State and Rivers State indigene trails with over 225 votes. Vice President Yemi Osinbajo trails with 180 votes, while Senate President Ahmad Lawan, Governors Yahaya Bello, Ben Ayade, Dave Umahi follow in distant rear.
