Bonfrère Jo is touted to be one of those planning to take over the job of Super Eagles coach,as many call for the head of Gernot Rohr.
He is said to have submitted his application for the job to the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), according to Eagles’ former media officer, Colin Udoh.
The revelation comes as Jo himself revealed in a video he will be in Lagos on December 12, 2021 to receive an award, alongside former President Olusegun Obasanjo, billionaire Femi Otedola, former Super Eagle players Kanu Nwankwo, Austin JJ Okocha, from Ohaneze Ndigbo.
The NFF is currently in the process of paying off current coach Gernot Rohr to terminate his contract while interviewing candidates for the job,” Udoh tweeted.
Bonfrere served as the team’s coach on two occasions and as an assistant coach under Clemence Westerhof at the 1994 World Cup before leading the Dream Team to the gold medal in the football event of the Atlanta 1996 Olympics.
He returned to lead Nigeria four years later to place second at the 2000 Africa Cup of Nations.
