How Harbor emerged APC chairman in Abia (+Video)

Details of how Mazi Enyinnaya Harbor emerged the Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Abia State showed that he polled almost all the accredited votes at the party congress held in Umuahia, the state capital.

He polled 1,260 votes with 17 voided votes, in an election that had 1,277 accredited votes.

The party congress held on Saturday 16th October 2021 at Chidiebere Arena, Uzuakoli Road, Umuahia, and was conducted by a seven-man National Congress Committee led by Hon Babatunde Kolawole, a former House of Representatives member.

The Committee Chairman and his team arrived the venue at 10 a.m. and began accreditation. Thereafter, it went into the voting process. Out of 1,700 delegates present, 1,277 were cleared to vote. The Congress was monitored by Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) officials from both Abia and Abuja offices, large retinue of Police, NSCDC and DSS personnel, according to a report.

The committee returned Mazi Enyinnaya Harbor as the State Chairman, having polled 1,260 votes with 17 voided votes.

Chief Chidi Avajah was elected State Secretary 1,200 votes with 22 void votes. Deacon Obinna Atuonwu, who polled 1,214 votes with 20 voided votes, was returned as State Organising Secretary.

The other offices were returned through voice affirmation as consensus candidates.

Notable party faithful present at the congress were the Deputy Whip of the House of Reps, Hon Nkeiru Onyejiocha;  Secretary of the APC National Convention Committee on Strategy, Contact and Mobilization and Pro Chancellor UNN, Chief Ikechi Emenike; Former governorship candidate, Barr FN Nwosu; Member Abia House of Assembly, Hon Barr Emeka Okoroafor and many others.
