Now that the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA), Ms. Hadiza Bala, has hit the ground, with her suspension from office, and swift replacement, in acting capacity, by the NPA’s Director of Finance, Mr. Mohammed Koko, documents are been leaked to show how, under her watch, over N165 billion was not remitted to federal coffers.
Bala was sent home on Thursday, though other reports suggest she was not given an opportunity to defend herself before she was suspended.
However a floodgate of documents was opened and flowed freely to show she may not have managed affairs at the NPA with a fine financial comb. Not known to back down from a battle, many observers believe she may push back to defend herself soon.
