Like in 2015, Nigeria’s presidential election may be postponed as heated debate is on at the IndependentNational Electoral Commission (INEC) headquarters in Abuja among INEC boss, Professor Mahmoud Yakubu, and stakeholders that include party chairmen and others.
An announcement to cancel or not to cancel is being awaited.
The contention, it was gathered, has to do with a highly classified report calling for a postponement of elections for security reasons. The same reasons were given for shifting polls in 2015, though the situation in the North-East formed the basis for that action under former President Goodluck Jonathan.
It was gathered that INEC chairman is resisting the move to force a postponement, but there are those suspect he may allegedly be in on it. His spokesppersons were not picking calls last night.
Worse, there were reports of voting materials not been delivered in some States, but efforts are on to confirm the disclosures first seen on social media.
