The Chairman of Ogoja Local Government Council, Hon Chris Agbeh, has expressed the readiness of Ogoja Local Government Council to host Investors in the area particularly in the agricultural sub sector.
The Chairman disclosed this when he led the people of Ogoja to the ongoing Cross River State Trade Fair holding in Calabar, where he showcased rich agricultural produces from his Local Government Area.
He informed that the agriculrure commidi yearned for investors to tap into the commercial production and export of the commodities.
He appealed to investors to partner with cultivation for the cultivation of rice as the land accommodates both wet and dry seasons production, assuring that the Cross River State Ultra modern Rice Mill in Ogoja is capable of churning out thousands of tons per day; while the high yield of yams could be processed into yam flour for local and international consumption.
Hon. Agbeh assured investors that his council has the requisite conducive business climate, environmental friendliness, and good security for any business to thrive.
Receiving the Chairman, the Cross River State Commissioner for Commerce, Dr Abigail Orok, was impressed with the physical participation of tthechairman, moting that it was a clear indication of his preparededness to key into the people-first mantra of Governor Otu.
She observed that the presence of the Chairman, showed him as a proactive personality who is ready to encourage Value Addition which could transform the youths in the area to becoming entrepreneurs.
The commissioner assured that the Cross River State Microfinance Bank has sufficient funds for Small and Medium Scale enterprises (SME), adding that the youths of Ogoja should take deliberate steps to access the facility.
Commenting on the importance of the Trade Fair, the President of the Ikom Chamber of Commerce, Mrs Flora Takim-Ndifon, said that the exhibition came at the appropriate time as agriculture is a stake which has to be harnessed maximally.
In her remarks, the Leader of Ogoja Legislative council, Hon. (Dr) Elizabeth Mbim, expressed optimism that Ogoja Local Government Council was poised to aggressively pursue the agriculture revolution for food sufficiency and security.
The high point of the event, moderated by the Head of Local Government Administration, Mrs Cecilia Ogah Ekunke, was the exhibition of products such as different species of highly nutritional valued yams, vitaminised Rice, natural palm oil, brooms for environmental sanitation, palm wine for possible bottling, and local soup condiments and spices.
