Needless lethal force and killing of our students over protest

Must read

By Rev. Polycarp Gbaja

Here we go again!

Students shot because they dared to protest a 300% hike in their school fees??!!

Emmanuel Nata is dead because he protested that increase, in a clime and place where the communities have been pauperized beyond measure, their families under a ceaseless barrage by terrorist Fulani Militia, so-called ‘bandits’ and kidnappers?

What sort of a nation is it where the children and the poor and vulnerable get killed by ethno-religious murderers, criminals and then their own Government’s security operatives?! How devalued have the lives of our children become that they are now the subjects and targets of killings, abduction, rape and senseless violence for years on end? And now being killed cold heartedly by order, approval or nod of a political ruling class that has gone totally rogue in its obsession to hold the grip of power, intolerant of all forms of dissent?

Can the Inspector General of PoliceGl, State Police Commissioner or DSS move in with lethal power against unarmed protesting students in their community, without the knowledge of the Kaduna State Government? Haba, come on!!

This is wrong, Kaduna State Government. You could not have seen these young people as your own citizens, much less your children. You have failed in your primary sworn duty to protect the children of your citizens, who were walking within their inalienable constitutional rights as Nigerians. This madness is inexcusable, whoever carried out this killing, in the name of Government.

My heart bleeds today for the needless death of EMMANUEL NATA. He is the son of the NATA family and ALL Kaduna State people.

The killers in uniform must be brought to justice, as the murderer of George Floyd was. There must be clear consequences to stop this insanity from continuing.

No Government policy such as this, is worth the killing of citizens in this extrajudicial manner.

ENOUGH IS ENOUGH.
