Disciple or mere Christian

Must read

By Buti Sam Kputu

There are always two groups of people around Jesus: The MULTITUDES and The DISCIPLES. The multitudes follow for what they can get out of Him. They are largely self-seeking. The Disciples, on the other hand, follow for what He can make out them. They are essentially self-sacrificing (Jn.6:26; Mt. 4:19; Lk. 14:25-33)

The title “CHRISTIAN” is not very popular in the Bible. What we rather have is DISCIPLES. In the King James Version for instance, “Christian” appears 3 times while “Disciple(s)” appears 272 times. Little wonder, the commission the Lord gave His Church was to go make ‘DISCIPLES’, not gather ‘CHRISTIANS’. For it is Disciples that were recognised as Christians (Acts 11:26)

JESUS has never sought for Multitudes or Crowds; He is neither a vote-seeking politician nor a tithe-seeking preacher. He came for, paid for and seeks for DISCIPLES. Are you a Christ-loving DISCIPLE or just part of the bread-loving MULTITUDES?
