Must read

From Ron Jacob, Jos.
Mrs Naomi Golmwen, Management Committee Chairman, Pankshin Local Government of Plateau on Tuesday flagged-off sales of fertilizer to farmers for the 2018 farming season.
The council boss warned farmers against re-sale of the commodity in the open market as “such act will not be tolerated but meet the wrath of the law.’’
Golmwen disclosed that 10 out of the 16 trucks of the fertilizer had already arrived the council for distribution to farmers for the wet season farming.
“It’s my singular honour to flag-off the sales of the fertilizer for bumper harvest to people of Pankshin particularly farmers at the reduced prices of N5,000 per bag as against N5, 500 while the liquid sachet goes for N2, 500.
“I hereby warned that the council will not take it lightly with any beneficiary who will buy and resell to dealers in the open market’’, she warned.
The LG boss charged the 9-Member Distribution Committee, headed by Mr Zakka Obadiah, to immediately swing into action with the sale of the commodity.
She noted that it would be meaningless if the fertilizer was not distributed to the farmers at the appropriate time for them to make proper use of if for the desired bumper harvest in the year.
The chairman said that the present government in its drive to diversify the economy,  “gives priority to agriculture and restoring its lost glory as the main stay of the Nigerian economy.’’
According to her,  “the season is looking promising in view of the nature of rainfall we are experiencing and the timing of the launch of the sales of fertilizer to our teaming farmers.’’
She described the sales as “another mile stone’’ of Governor Simon Lalong’s administration to extend to the people of Plateau the dividends of democracy.
Responding, Obadiah, Distribution Committee Chairman, pledged to do justice to the sales to ensure that every nook and cranny of the area gets the commodity as expected and appealed for cooperation from the farmers.
