After he was made to eat the humble pie by apologising to Kano State Governor, Abdulahi Ganduje, the Emir of Kano, Sanusi Mohammadu Sanusi, heaved a sigh of relief as the Governor today stopped an ongoing probe of him.
The Kano House of Assembly called off the probe following a letter from the Governor read on the floor of the Assembly asking that the probe be called off.
Curiously, the letter read by Speaker, Alhassan Rurum, asked for suspension of the probe, an indication that it could be re-started at any point in future.
Among prominent Nigerians listed to have interceded for Emir Sanusi are Acting President Yemi Osinbajo, the Sultan of Sokoto, Abubakar Sa’ad, Governors, former heads of state Ibrahim Babangida and Abdulsalami Abubakar,.
Recall that the State government ordered a probe of Emir Sanusi’s financial management of the emirate after he was alleged to have misappropriated funds;but watchers believe the probe had more to do with his larcerating criticism of the Governor and other elites of the north.
