Homes under power lines in Abuja for disconnection

Must read

Residents of the Federal Capital Territory  (FCT) who have their homes directly under overhead power lines will have theIr electricity cut off as the Nigerian Electricity Management Services Agency (NEMSA) begins mass disconnection of power supply to them.
A public notice from the FCT authorities said “all structures, buildings, and premises directly under overhead power lines or within right of way of Transmission & Distribution of pipe lines (will be disconnected) with immediate effect.”
The new move, it was gathered, might not be unconnected with the resolve of the Ministry of Power, Works, and Housing to ensure strict adherence to safety standards, after some football fans in Calabar, Cross River State, were electrocuted.
Power lines fell on the viewing center where they were watching an international football match, in what Power Minister, Babatunde Fashola, described as an avoidable tragedy.
