By Festus Ndukwe.
When I went to bury my father some years ago, a certain group in the village conspired to make things difficult for me because of my commitment to the Lord. They vowed to deal with me. But each time they confronted me the Lord would confound them and they would go.
In one of the days, they regrouped by a thick shrub near my house not knowing that my younger sister was nearby, sweeping. They were saying to themselves, “What is behind that man; whatever we plan against him is shattered.” One of them, a backslider said, ’It is the Holy Spirit.’
They saw me as weak and not able to defend myself against their evil powers but they did not know that my strength is hid in Christ.
One of my cherished passages in the Bible is Isaiah 28:16. “Therefore thus saith the Lord God, Behold, I lay in Zion for a foundation a stone, a tried stone, a precious corner stone, a sure foundation: he that believeth shall not make haste.”
Christ is the believer’s corner stone, His Rock. It is upon this Rock that God has built His Church to which the gates of hell cannot prevail against. Anything outside this Rock, either it is prosperity message or motivational message is sand and the person will be bread to the enemy and blown away by the situations prevailing in our time.
Only Christ is Rock. Strangely, Christ is the Stone many builders in Church have rejected, and that includes Pastors and other ministers, but which has become the head of the corner, Ps.118:22; 1Pet.2:7. Many Christians have rejected this Stone in the building of their spiritual lives and are being harassed by the enemy.
