It was an eye-popping visit for the impressionable minds. They stared, they mopped as they walked to visit House Speaker, Yakubu Dogara. Compared to where they were coming from, their schools around the IDP camps scattered around Abuja, this looked like the paradise they had heard so much about.
There was the man in clean cut suit admonishing them to remember Joseph of biblical times, who was separated from his parents at a young and tender age, like some of them, but who through a devotion and obedience to God; honesty and hard work had become the second most powerful man in his civilisation, saving his family from the disaster of that time.
Wide-eyed, they listened in choreographed silence and attention; but the visit was not lost on them, especially when the man in suit, Dogara, promised to talk to his colleagues to see how they could help them.
