Jonathan’s cousin gets bail in alleged $40m fraud trial

If former President Goodluck Jonathan, cousin, Robert Azibaola, is able to cough out N1 billion, he can breath the fresh air of freedom with his wife, Stella, for now as a Federal High Court judge, Nnamdi Dimgba, granted them bail in that princely sum Wednesday in Abuja.

“All things considered, I grant the defendants bail on the following terms: that the defendants are admitted to bail in the sum of N500 million each, two sureties in like sum which shall in turn enter a bail bond of the sum of N500 million, the sureties must each be an owner of property in Asokoro or Maitama District of Abuja,” the judge declared.

The couple are being prosecuted for alleged receiving $40million into their company, One Plus Holdings Nigeria Limited, from the Office of the National Security Adviser.

But their trial continues on June 28 in Abuja.
