The Ogun State Police Command has revealed disturbing details surrounding the murder of popular broadcaster, Olakitan Oyesiku<\/strong>, with the principal suspect allegedly admitting that the killing was carried out to \u201cteach her a lesson.\u201d<\/p>\n

The disclosure was made on Wednesday by the Commissioner of Police, CP Bode Ojajuni<\/strong>, during a press briefing on the progress of investigations into the deaths of Oyesiku and her security guard, Pelumi Adetayo<\/strong>, who were murdered at the broadcaster\u2019s residence in Kobape, Abeokuta.<\/p>\n

According to the police commissioner, the prime suspect, Sodeinde Olajuwon Philip<\/strong>, confessed to his role in the crime and revealed that he recruited two accomplices, Sakirudeen Abdulraheem Ayoola<\/strong> and Sobu Obafunsho<\/strong>, to execute the attack.<\/p>\n

\u201cDuring interrogation, Sodeinde Olajuwon Philip made a confessional statement, admitting his involvement in the murder of Madam Olakitan Oyesiku,\u201d Ojajuni said.<\/p>\n

The suspect reportedly told investigators that he orchestrated the attack following grievances he had with the deceased while working as a security guard in her employment.<\/p>\n

According to the commissioner, Philip stated that the murder was intended to \u201cteach her a lesson.\u201d<\/p>\n

How the Incident Was Discovered<\/h2>\n

Police said the case came to light on June 21, 2026, when officers at Owode-Egba Police Station received a report concerning suspicious circumstances at Oyesiku\u2019s residence.<\/p>\n

Upon arrival, detectives observed signs of forced entry. After gaining access to the premises, they discovered the body of security guard Pelumi Adetayo inside the security house, while Oyesiku was found lying in a pool of blood in the living room of the main building.<\/p>\n

Investigators also discovered that the broadcaster\u2019s Lexus RX 330 SUV was missing from the compound, raising suspicions of robbery and murder.<\/p>\n

Police Recover Missing Vehicle<\/h2>\n

The Ogun State Police Command immediately launched an intensive investigation involving intelligence gathering and technical tracking operations.<\/p>\n

The efforts paid off on June 22 when operatives traced and recovered the missing Lexus RX 330. Although the vehicle\u2019s ignition key and registration plates had been removed, detectives found the number plate hidden beneath one of the seats, confirming it as Oyesiku\u2019s vehicle.<\/p>\n

Police also revealed that a handwritten note allegedly left behind by the perpetrators became a critical piece of evidence. Forensic examination of the note generated valuable leads that assisted investigators in identifying and tracking the suspects.<\/p>\n

Three Suspects in Custody<\/h2>\n

Acting on intelligence gathered during the investigation, detectives arrested Philip on June 24 at a construction site in Ibara GRA, Abeokuta, where he was reportedly working as a labourer.<\/p>\n

Subsequent operations led to the arrest of Ayoola, a security guard, and Obafunsho, a bricklayer, bringing all identified suspects linked to the alleged conspiracy into custody.<\/p>\n

According to police findings, the suspects carried out the attack on June 20. They allegedly overpowered Adetayo and used him to gain access to Oyesiku\u2019s residence before attacking and killing the broadcaster. The security guard was later murdered as well.<\/p>\n

After the killings, the suspects reportedly fled with the deceased\u2019s vehicle, which was later recovered by police.<\/p>\n

Exhibits Recovered<\/h2>\n

Following the suspects\u2019 confessional statements, detectives conducted searches at locations linked to them and recovered several items believed to be connected to the crime.<\/p>\n

The recovered exhibits include a broken hammer, a cutlass, a wooden plank, a black pen, and other materials considered relevant to the ongoing investigation.<\/p>\n

Police Assure Public of Justice<\/h2>\n

Despite the confessions and evidence recovered, the Ogun State Police Command emphasized that the suspects remain entitled to due process under the law.<\/p>\n

CP Ojajuni assured the public that investigations are ongoing to strengthen the case and ensure the successful prosecution of all individuals connected to the crime.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe Command remains committed to ensuring that justice is served and that all persons connected with this heinous crime are brought to book,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
