What began as a chance meeting, she said, quickly turned into what she now describes as a nightmare.

She alleged that she was lured to a house where several young women were living together under suspicious circumstances. During her stay, unknown men frequently visited the residence and engaged in sexual activities with the occupants. Walida claimed she received no payment and had no control over the situation.

After she fell ill, she said Mariam moved her to another town, where she lived with Mariam’s husband, Abdullahi Isiyaku, and a co-wife. There, Walida alleged she endured both physical and emotional abuse. She further claimed she was forced to assume a new identity – “Chinasa” – while Mariam presented herself to others as her mother.

An attempt to flee proved unsuccessful. Walida recounted how she was stopped by a soldier while trying to escape and returned to her captors. She alleged that she was beaten, injured and later transported to Abuja.

In the Federal Capital Territory, she claimed she was confined in a house with several other women and her movement restricted throughout 2024. She eventually managed to escape, wandering through unfamiliar neighborhoods until she reached Airport Road, where a man she identified as “Sir Rochy” offered assistance.

Walida said she later met a man identified as Ifeanyi, whom she described as an operative of the Department of State Services (DSS). According to her, he provided her with food, clothing and shelter. She disclosed that their relationship became consensual and resulted in the birth of a baby girl.

However, events took another turn on January 1, 2026, when Walida said she insisted on reconnecting with her family. With assistance, she contacted her father, who had reportedly been searching for her.

Tensions escalated when her relatives arrived in Abuja. Walida claimed that upon discovering she had a child with Ifeanyi, family members demanded that she sever ties with him and return home without the baby. She also alleged that an uncle made threatening remarks about her fate, which she resisted.

The matter was subsequently reported to security authorities, leading to her current stay at a DSS facility.

Walida maintains that she is acting of her own free will and does not wish to return to her family, preferring instead to continue her life with Ifeanyi. She also denied allegations that she had been coerced into changing her religion.

Sources within the DSS confirmed that investigations are ongoing into the circumstances surrounding her disappearance, the alleged abuse and concerns over her safety, particularly in light of reported threats to her life by family members.

Below is a full text of her interview as published by Daily Trust:

My story, by Walida

By Hamza Idris

Walida, a young girl from Hadejia Local Government Area of Jigawa State, for the first time, narrated her version of the story in an exclusive interview with Weekend Trust, at the DSS headquarters in Abuja.

Tell us your full name.
Walida Abdullahi.

How old are you?
I am 22 years old.

From which state?
Jigawa State.

Which local government?
Hadejia.

Which area?
Anku.

Where you in school before all this started?
Yes.

Which school?
Papagoma.

Which class where you?
Senior Secondary School 2.

Which year did you leave home?
2023.

Why did you leave home?
One day, while in Anku, on my way to fetch water, I met a lady named Mariam.
